Klein Marine System’s 5900 High-Speed Side-Scan Sonar To KIOST For Seafloor Topography Surveys

Klein Marine Systems, is pleased to announce that the Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology (KIOST), in their ongoing quest to advance marine science and technology, has accepted delivery of the Klein Marine System’s 5900 ultra-high-resolution sonar. KIOST plans to use the high-speed side-scan for its seafloor topography surveys. The acceptance trials were carried off the coast of Busan, So. Korea.

Shearwater to Embark on Significant New Angolan OBN Survey for TotalEnergies

The deepwater OBN survey will be conducted by the dual ROV equipped SW Tasman, the fit for purpose seismic node laying vessel which was converted in 2023, and SW Gallien as source vessel. The survey will commence in January 2025, over a two and a half-month duration. Shearwater will utilise its compact high-endurance Pearl node for the project.

Fugro Completes Comprehensive Survey for Atlantic Shores to Advance US Offshore Wind Projects

Fugro has successfully completed four years of continuous survey operations in New Jersey and New York for US-based offshore wind developer Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind. Supporting the site assessment of five projects across three lease areas totalling 1,000 km², Fugro worked with Atlantic Shores to pioneer a new data collection and management approach that increased survey efficiency by 30% and contributed to the recent federal approval of Atlantic Shores South, which will provide 2,800 MW of clean energy to New Jersey.

Rovco Awarded Contract for Green Volt, Set to be One of World’s Largest Floating Offshore Wind Farms

Rovco has been awarded the site characterisation operations for Green Volt floating offshore wind farm, located 80 km east of Peterhead in Scotland. Scheduled to be fully operational in 2029, Green Volt will become one of the world’s largest offshore floating windfarms. It will consist of up to 35 floating turbines and is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 1 million tons per year, contributing up to 1.5 TWh of clean energy to the UK annually.

Kraken Robotics Completes High Resolution Route Survey Contract in Australia

Kraken Robotics announces the successful completion of a contract to supply high-resolution seabed mapping sonar service to Precision Hydrographic Services (PHS), a customer supporting the Australian Department of Defence. The Australian Department of Defence project sought to undertake Hydrographic High Resolution Route Surveys (RS) for a number of Australian ports. The purpose of these surveys was to enable the collection of Maritime Geospatial Information (MGI) to support maritime domain awareness through the acquisition of high-resolution seabed foundation data and associated oceanographic data.

Rovco Selected for Survey Work on the Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind Project

Rovco, a leading UK-based provider of tech-powered offshore wind solutions, has been selected for site characterisation work on the Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind project in the southern North Sea. Saildrone Unveils the New Surveyor

Saildrone is excited to unveil the first of a new generation of Surveyor-class unmanned surface vehicles (USVs), purpose-built for autonomous deep-water ocean mapping missions and maritime defense and security missions. Fugro Secures Significant Marine Survey Contract on INPEX’s Abadi LNG and Carbon Capture and Storage Project

Fugro will perform geophysical and geotechnical surveys needed to support front-end engineering design for offshore production facilities, the submarine pipeline to the onshore LNG terminal and CO2 injection infrastructure. Geo-data will be acquired using Fugro’s deepwater autonomous underwater vehicle Echo Surveyor 8 and a robotic seafloor drill, deployed from Indonesian support vessels. Fieldwork is expected to start in the second quarter of 2024.

Terna Tests Terradepth AUVs for Marine Geophysical Surveys

The first test was conducted off the coast near the port of Casamicciola Terme, on the island of Ischia (Naples, Italy). During geophysical surveying of the seabed, Terna’s technicians were able to test the performance of the “Gavia” drone, the AUV from Terradepth employed for the purpose, equipped with advanced sensors, including Echo Sounder (MBES), Side Scan Sonar and HD Camera.
