The Swedish Navy's experimentation office, MaX, has been working with the Blueye X3 since May. Among other tasks, the team has used the ROV to film the Navy's unmanned underwater vehicle, LUUV.

MaX is now looking at how the X3 can support manned dives, especially in environments that are risky or hard to reach for divers. The team points to how easy the drone is to handle and control with a handheld controller. They also say its 300-metre depth rating is more than enough for their work in the Baltic Sea. The team also sees time savings in tasks such as inspecting the underside of boats and picking up objects dropped on the seabed.

On 5 September, MaX showed the X3 to the public at the Navy Day in Karlskrona, where visitors could try driving it themselves.
