Media colleagues are invited to attend the National Oceanography Centre’s (NOC) 2017 Marine Autonomy and Technology (MAT) Showcase which runs from Monday 13 to Wednesday 18 November at the NOC’s waterfront site in Southampton.

The full agenda and timings for speakers and activities for each of the three days is available on our website at the following links:

Monday 13 November
Tuesday 14 November
Wednesday 15 November

The MAT Showcase features a packed programme of workshops, talks from industry leaders, demonstrations, and networking, offering a unique opportunity to find out about the latest developments in ocean technology and meet the people making it a reality.

The NOC is a pioneer of Marine Autonomy - a transformative technology that is contributing to the government’s Industrial Strategy and continues to generate huge interest from major industry sectors including Offshore Renewable Energy, Oil and Gas, and Defence. The technology has also captured the public imagination in the last 12 months with the popularity of ‘Boaty McBoatface’, the name given to one of the NOC’s Autosub long-range autonomous vehicles.

This year’s MAT Showcase will also feature feedback on the ‘2017 Year of Autonomy’ and Marine Autonomous Systems in Support of Marine Observations (MASSMO) - which this year saw the largest single deployment of autonomous vehicles - as well as a full social programme for guests.

To register your interest in attending, contact Damian Cook, Senior Communications Officer (Technology) by email at dcook@noc.ac.uk or by calling +44 (0)23 8059 6170.
