Omega Subsea has awarded Norwegian ROV manufacturer Kystdesign a major contract for 12 new remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), with deliveries scheduled for 2026. The companies have also entered into an option agreement for 10 additional ROV systems, with deliveries planned for 2027 and 2028. Of the initial 12 systems, eight will support various vessel and subsea operations for Solstad, while the remaining four are designated for undisclosed clients.

Following the successful completion of a pilot trenching project in 2024, Deep C and DOF will begin the main deepwater trenching operation in Asia in Q2 2025. The pilot phase tested Deep C’s ROV Trenching Skid in water depths exceeding 1,000 meters, confirming its ability to operate efficiently in challenging seabed conditions. With valuable experience from the trial, Deep C and DOF are now moving ahead with the final trenching scope, ensuring precise and efficient execution.

Exail, a global leader in maritime robotics, has selected Elwave’s advanced electromagnetic sensing technology to equip its R7 Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) for an undisclosed client. As part of this collaboration, Exail will integrate Elwave’s Tetrapulse sensors—powered by the innovative CEDAR (Controlled Electric Detection And Ranging) technology—into multiple R7 ROVs.

Kystdesign is proud to announce the signing of a contract with the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) for the construction of the advanced Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), the Supporter 6000. The contract was signed this week by NIOZ Director Han Dolman and Kystdesign Director Tore Nedland. The Supporter 6000 will be delivered in June 2026 and will serve the entire Dutch marine research community.

During a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) dive in the German Channel in Palau, the Ocean Exploration Trust (OET) witnessed four Palau nautilus individuals (Nautilus belauensis). These are the first sightings of nautiloids — the most primitive cephalopods — from E/V Nautilus after 1000+ ROV dives over the last 15 years of operations. This marine mollusk found in the Indo-Pacific is rarely photographed- let alone caught on video -and 2024’s expeditions represent the first of OET’s adventures within the nautilus’s expected distribution range. This expedition (NA169) was funded by NOAA Ocean Exploration via the Ocean Exploration Cooperative Institute.

Specialist provider of offshore support services, Interocean Marine Services (Interocean) has been awarded a four-year extension to its frame agreement with multinational power company, Vattenfall.
