Leonardo Stands Ready for Second OCEAN2020 Demonstration

The second OCEAN2020 demonstration is due to take place in the Baltic Sea in the end of August. The exercise, which will be coordinated by Saab, will focus upon how naval forces can detect and identify high-speed surface threats and unknown submerged activity. OCEAN2020 is the largest European funded defence research project for maritime surveillance and sees Leonardo coordinating a team of 43 partners from 15 countries. The Baltic Sea demo will involve 13 unmanned systems, four naval units – a Swedish Support Ship, Lithuanian Patrol Vessel, Polish Mine Hunter and a German Research Vessel - a satellite and two command centres.

Fugro Wins Another IRM Contract with Petrobras in Brazil

Petrobras has awarded Fugro a 3-year contract for subsea inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services in Brazil. The contract is set to begin in Q4 2021 and will be accomplished from the Fugro Aquarius using two Fugro-built 3000 m work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). The award follows the successful completion of a previous 4-year contract for similar services aboard the same vessel.

FET to Deliver ROV Life Extension Project to Support International Telecoms

Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. (FET) today announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide a life extension (Lext) upgrade on one of its Perry ST200 Trenchers. The Lext upgrade will be completed for a Western Hemisphere telecommunications equipment company. The enhanced asset will support the installation and maintenance of subsea cables that are a vital component of an international communications network.
