Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. today announced that it has delivered two of its emergency life support store (ELSS) pods to the Hellenic Navy. The contract, which marks FET’s first supply to Greece’s naval force, will see the business manufacture the two pods at its facility in Kirkbymoorside, Yorkshire, UK.

Marine technology specialist Subsea Europe Services and Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) innovator MARTAC have signed an extensive partnership agreement for cooperation on the delivery of unmanned and autonomous marine survey platforms. The partnership unites Florida-headquartered MARTAC’s extensive USV portfolio for defence, commercial and scientific applications with Subsea Europe Services’ hydroacoustic sensors, platforms and solutions expertise, which is available through its established European rental pool, sales and support channels.

Leading integrated subsea and offshore solutions provider, Unique Group, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AMC Search (AMCS), the training and consultancy division of the Australian Maritime College to jointly develop a maritime industry accredited Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV) Coxswain’s course.

The second OCEAN2020 demonstration is due to take place in the Baltic Sea in the end of August. The exercise, which will be coordinated by Saab, will focus upon how naval forces can detect and identify high-speed surface threats and unknown submerged activity. OCEAN2020 is the largest European funded defence research project for maritime surveillance and sees Leonardo coordinating a team of 43 partners from 15 countries. The Baltic Sea demo will involve 13 unmanned systems, four naval units – a Swedish Support Ship, Lithuanian Patrol Vessel, Polish Mine Hunter and a German Research Vessel - a satellite and two command centres.

Acteon, a marine energy and infrastructure services company, recently supported Siemens Gamesa, an industry-leading offshore wind turbine manufacturer and operations and maintenance provider, with a cable survey for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) pilot project. The scope of work provides an example of Acteon’s ongoing partnership with Siemens Gamesa and its growing balance of plant subsea services, which cover turbine foundation ROV inspection and surveys of export and array cables, and the seabed around each turbine foundation.

Designed to detect all fluorescing trace dyes used in subsea leak detection from a single 6000m rated Titanium housing, the OceanSENSE 4 utilises the same core technology as the industry standard OTAQ OceanSENSE subsea leak and cement returns detection system.

Greensea Systems, creator of OPENSEA®, the universal open architecture software platform for the marine industry, recently contracted with Ocean Power Technologies (OPT) to provide development and engineering services. During the three-year contract, Greensea will support OPT to develop and launch the next generation of their PowerBuoy®-based Maritime Domain Awareness Solution (MDAS) on the OPENSEA platform and will work closely with OPT’s other software partner, Fathom5.

The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project and Kongsberg Maritime have entered a Memorandum of Understanding in support of the global initiative to produce the complete map of the ocean floor. Under the terms of the MOU, the two parties will work together to advance understanding of ocean bathymetry. The effort complements the goals of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

Petrobras has awarded Fugro a 3-year contract for subsea inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) services in Brazil. The contract is set to begin in Q4 2021 and will be accomplished from the Fugro Aquarius using two Fugro-built 3000 m work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). The award follows the successful completion of a previous 4-year contract for similar services aboard the same vessel.

Forum Energy Technologies, Inc. (FET) today announced that it has been awarded a contract to provide a life extension (Lext) upgrade on one of its Perry ST200 Trenchers. The Lext upgrade will be completed for a Western Hemisphere telecommunications equipment company. The enhanced asset will support the installation and maintenance of subsea cables that are a vital component of an international communications network.
