Developing Lavrans and Kristin Q in the Norwegian Sea

Equinor and the partners Petoro, Vår Energi and Total E&P Norge have decided to develop the Lavrans discovery and the Kristin Q-discovery which is a part of the Kristin field. This constitutes phase 1 of the Kristin South project, and today the plan for development and operation (PDO) will be submitted to the minister of petroleum and energy. Capital expenditures for this first phase will total about NOK 6.5 billion.

Seafloor Team Discovers Submerged Plane During Routine Testing

Folsom Lake is a large, man-made reservoir in very close proximity to Seafloor’s headquarters. It’s also our go-to testing ground for various hydrographic survey equipment aboard our unmanned survey vessels (USVs). While conducting a routine sonar system check on Folsom Lake, Seafloor Systems Inc. hydrographers Jeffrey Riley and Tyler Atkinson came across an unusual object on the lakebed – a submerged plane.

AWS Wave Energy Converter Takes Shape in Glasgow Ahead of Testing

Last week AWS Ocean Energy achieved a critical milestone in the construction of its 16kW Archimedes Waveswing wave energy converter when the two major sub-assemblies were joined together and the Waveswing finally took shape. Final hook-up of the internal systems is now under way at Malin Marine in Glasgow and AWS expects to start commissioning and dry-testing early in July, before deployment at the European Marine Energy Center (EMEC) in Orkney later this year.

This would now allow the University to deliver world-class programmes designed to prepare students for careers in Subsea Operations and Engineering.
