Dive Technologies Completes Successful Sea Trials with Kraken’s Sonar & Pressure Tolerant Batteries

Kraken Robotics Inc., Canada’s Ocean Company, is pleased to announce that Quincy, Massachusetts based Dive Technologies Inc. (“Dive”) recently completed successful sea trials of Kraken’s Miniature Synthetic Aperture Sonar (MINSAS 120) integrated onto Dive’s Large Displacement Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (DIVE-LD). The DIVE-LD is also powered by Kraken’s pressure tolerant batteries.

New Cowes Weather Station Goes Live

Environmental monitoring stations deliver tide and weather data for harbour users Cowes Harbour Commission (CHC) and OceanWise Ltd. have completed a Stakeholder Benefit project to install two environmental monitoring stations on the River Medina to provide harbour users with tide and weather data allowing commercial and leisure vessels to make timely safety related navigational decisions.

Surveys Underway for Erebus Floating Wind Project

Blue Gem Wind, the joint venture between Total and Simply Blue Energy, has begun its 2021 Celtic Sea offshore survey campaign. GEOxyz has started geophysical survey work at the Erebus floating wind site, which is 45km south-west of the Pembrokeshire coastline. Offshore surveys are due to last until mid-June.

Fugro Wins Marine Site Characterisation Contract for World’s first Energy Island Hub

Energinet has awarded Fugro a marine site characterisation contract for the Danish Energy Island project in the North Sea. The contract is part of Energinet’s preliminary studies to build the world’s first ‘hub and spoke’ energy scheme: an energy island 80 km off the Danish coast that will act as a transmission centre for hundreds of surrounding wind turbines. Fugro will perform geophysical and unexploded ordnance (UXO) magnetometry surveys, which will be used to prepare an integrated geological and geotechnical soil model on which wind farm developers will base future tenders.

Drafinsub performs Pipeline Inspection and Maintenance on Lake Garda

New Project: Commercial diving on Garda lake. Acque Bresciane has again commissioned Drafinsub for the maintenance and the securing of Garda Lake pipeline. Raffaella Saturation System was utilised for this new project. The operations begun in March. Commercial divers will work underwater, up to the depth of 186 m. The specialized divers will continue the operations started 2 years ago.
