Triumph Subsea Services Terminates LOI with InfraStrata for the Delivery of Windfarm Development Vessels

Triumph Subsea Services would like to advise that it has formally cancelled the Letter of Intent that was issued to InfraStrata plc on the 9th December 2020. The Letter of Intent was for one firm and one optional ST designed 200m x 35m Windfarm Development Vessels (WDV). The WDV is a turn-key solution for floating windfarm installations, cable laying and providing marine services for offshore carbon capture and green hydrogen projects. Following Triumph's business model of building and operating vessels with maximum local content these UK built vessels would have provided numerous employment opportunities for the UK supply chain. These opportunities would also have existed during the vessels execution of UK renewables projects as the vessels would have been crewed and operated by UK personnel.

Marine scientists aboard Schmidt Ocean Institute’s research vessel Falkor have identified likely new marine species and deep sea organisms on nine seamounts that were explored for the first time in the remote Phoenix Islands Archipelago. In a 34-day expedition that ended today, scientists also conducted high-resolution seafloor mapping of more than 30,000 square kilometers and video exploration of five additional seamounts.

Maersk Drilling Secures Extended Well Intervention Scope for Low-emission Rig

Equinor Energy AS has exercised an option to add additional well intervention work to the previously agreed work scope for the low-emission jack-up rig Maersk Intrepid at the Martin Linge field offshore Norway. The added well intervention scope has a firm duration of 31 days, which means that the rig is now contracted until February 2022. The firm value of the contract extension is approximately USD 10.5m, including integrated services but excluding potential performance bonuses.

The National Oceanography Centre (NOC) has secured funding from the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), which will take robot submarine ‘Boaty McBoatface’ around end-of-life oil and gas fields. The Autonomous Techniques for infraStructure Ecological Assessment (AT-SEA) project, led by the NOC will trial the concept of using submarines like Boaty for high-tech, low-impact monitoring to pick up any potential environmental impacts at these sites.
