Sonardyne achieves OHSAS 18001 accreditation around the world

Subsea technology company Sonardyne International Ltd., has announced that its UK sites in Yateley, Aberdeen and Plymouth have been awarded OHSAS 18001 Safety Management System Standard accreditation after successful audits of all three sites. The news follows similar recent announcements from Sonardyne’s overseas subsidiary companies; Sonardyne Brasil Ltda., Sonardyne Asia Pte. Ltd. and Sonardyne Inc., each of whom have earned OHSAS 18001 certification. This latest achievement, demonstrates Sonardyne’s commitment to health and safety in the workplace on a global scale.

Bowtech supply ultra-miniature cameras for Diverless Subsea Pipeline Repair System

Bowtech Products Ltd, a global market leader in subsea vision systems, supplied miniature underwater cameras with integral LEDs to Isotek Oil And Gas Ltd for observation of a diverless subsea pipeline repair system. The L3C-400-MICRO cameras were fitted with pressure relief valves to enable safe operation in an Argon-rich atmosphere subsea. The cameras were also supplied with right angled adaptors to permit observation of the tool in operation from all angles from restricted available camera positions.

Delta SubSea Demonstrate Rapid Response Capabilities

Delta SubSea mobilized an entire ROV system including: Schilling Robotics HD 150 ROV, Dynacon Launch and Recovery System, and ROV Control Van on an Antonov An-124 Ruslan airplane. The Antonov An-124 Ruslan airplane is a strategic airlift jet aircraft. The An-124 is the world’s highest gross weight production cargo airplane and second heaviest operating cargo aircraft. DSS’s ROV system was mobilized at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas. DSS’s ROV system was delivered to Trinidad for pipelay survey operations in Venezuela.

Balmoral invests in new ROV buoyancy plant

Remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and autonomously operated vehicles (AUVs) are becoming progressively more sophisticated in the tasks being demanded of them – from exploration and installation exercises to production operations and decommissioning projects. The ever-increasing global demand for all classes of vehicles, and the corresponding requirement for buoyancy packs, has seen Aberdeen-based Balmoral Offshore Engineering completely overhaul its ROV buoyancy production capability into a dedicated centre of excellence at its city HQ. The move has seen the company create approximately 20 new jobs spanning design, engineering and manufacturing. Following a £1m+ investment in the plant and supporting infrastructure, Jim Milne, chairman and managing director of Balmoral, told ROV Planet: “The last couple of years have seen an upturn in demand for ROVs around the world. This helped us make the decision to refurbish our buoyancy processing facility and increase production capacity so that we can meet customers’ lead times which are often necessarily short.
