Marine robots detect whales in the deep ocean

A fleet of pioneering marine robots, built and operated by the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) and its partners, has successfully detected whales and porpoises and recorded the sounds they make in a survey of the deep ocean off northern Scotland. In the summer of 2017 a fleet of 11 autonomous marine robots was deployed to explore the seas northwest of the Orkney Islands in search of marine mammals and sources of man-made noise pollution. The mission was part of an annual series of marine robot trials co-ordinated by the NOC in partnership with 16 organisations representing UK government, research and industry.

Ashtead teams up with Newton Labs to deliver underwater inspection for Subsea 7

Global subsea equipment specialist, Ashtead Technology has successfully delivered an advanced subsea laser scanning project for Subsea 7 on Chevron’s Captain field located in the UK North Sea. The project saw Ashtead carry out a well inspection utilising Newton Lab’s M210UW and M3200UW subsea laser scanning systems. Ashtead designed and engineered bespoke deployment tools that enabled the scanning systems to accurately capture subsea scans at water depths of 110 meters using divers.

Tendeka appoints new CEO to galvanize growth

Global oil and gas solutions provider Tendeka has appointed Brad Baker as its new Chief Executive Officer as the independent completions and production optimisation specialist gears up for further growth. Mr Baker joins Tendeka after a 27-year career with Baker Hughes, most recently as Vice President of Stimulation and Production Enhancement. He has held a number of global executive roles, where his responsibilities have included large legacy divisions and leading international operations, global product line management and engineering.
