STR becomes early adopter of Sonardyne’s new Fusion 2 software and 6 ‘plus’ hardware at OSEA 2018

Subsea Technology and Rentals (STR), a multi-disciplinary technology expert specialising in the design, production, rental and sale of innovative marine survey equipment, has become the first company to invest in Sonardyne International Ltd.’s new Long BaseLine (LBL) and Inertial Navigation System (INS) software, Fusion 2. The announcement was made following Sonardyne’s launch event at OSEA 2018 in Singapore.

C-Kore Systems successfully completes A/S Norske Shell contract

C-Kore Systems have successfully completed a contract with A/S Norske Shell, where their C-Kore Subsea Testing tools were used to assist with fault-finding in the Draugen field in Norway. With the use of the C-Kore tools, Shell was able to quickly locate the source of low IR on the field.

Staff have relocated from nearby Ryton, Tyne and Wear, to a purpose-built engineering services and manufacturing centre at the Tyne Tunnel Estate, North Shields, following a £10million investment. Arctic Rays Hammerhead – Low Cost, Ultra-Compact Pan & Tilt Released

Seeing the need for a simple, low-cost, ultra-compact pan and tilt for moving its lights and cameras, Arctic Rays, LLC has released Hammerhead for use on multiple platforms, including ROVs, HOVs, ASVs, landers and fixed platforms. Hammerhead provides a rated torque of 6.8 N-m (5 ft-lbs) and a stall torque of 12.2 N-m (9 ft-lbs) in a compact envelope measuring only 5.45” (138mm) tall x 4.06” (103mm) wide x 2.5” (63mm) deep. Hammerhead features absolute position feedback and unlimited rotation in both axes at speeds up to 5 rpm (30 degrees/sec) with user-settable soft-stops and turns counter for precise control. It is made of 316 Stainless Steel and available in a 1,000-meter rated air-filled version, or a 6,000-meter oil-filled version. In-air weight for the oil filled version is 2.7 kg (6.0 lbs), with in-water weight being 2.0 kg (4.4 lbs).

Hydrographic and Geophysical Survey company Ocean Infinity has placed 3 separate orders for a total of five Kongsberg Maritime HUGIN Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Systems, increasing its inventory to 15. The AUVs are supplied with the latest generation Kongsberg Maritime HISAS 1032 synthetic aperture sonar, giving Ocean Infinity a total of 6 HUGINs with the ability to deliver high resolution imaging in its fleet.
