ITF hosts decommissioning debate during SPE Offshore Europe to fast-track technology solutions

BPTT’s Angelin project gets the green light

BP Trinidad and Tobago LLC today announced the sanction for the development of its Angelin offshore gas project. The project will feature the construction of a new platform - bpTT’s 15th offshore production facility - 60 kilometres off the south-east coast of Trinidad in water-depth of approximately 65 metres. The development will include four wells and will have a production capacity of approximately 600 million standard cubic feet of gas a day (mmscfd). Gas from Angelin will flow to the Serrette platform hub via a new 21 kilometre pipeline. Drilling is due to commence in Q3 2018 and first gas from the facility is expected in 1Q 2019.

The Oil & Gas Technology Centre’s Technology Zone at SPE Offshore Europe 2017 will present a series of technologies used in alternative sectors to encourage the oil and gas industry to think differently about the adoption of new products. The Centre believes technologies such as robots, composite materials, additive manufacturing and augmented reality are all currently underutilised in offshore oil and gas, despite being part of a general industrial transformation in other industries. M² Subsea and Frontera Offshore join forces in Gulf of Mexico

M² Subsea has joined forces with Frontera Offshore to deliver remedial pipeline work for Permaducto, a subsidiary of Grupo Protexa, in the Ku-Maloob-Zaap (KMZ) oilfield in the Bay of Campeche, 65 miles north east of Cuidad del Carmen, Mexico. This contract also marks the first award for M² Subsea in the Gulf of Mexico region. The project will see personnel from M² Subsea’s Houston base on-board Frontera Offshore’s chartered multi-purpose support vessel (MPSV) Tehuana, to facilitate pre and post lay surveys for Frontera Offshore. The survey work will be carried out along a 7.5km section of the KMZ-94 pipeline to be stabilised for the Mexican pipeline contractor, Permaducto.

OPITO calls for US to adopt common global standards

Global safety, standards and workforce development organisation OPITO has called out to the US oil and gas sector to fully embrace common industry standards to help build a stronger safety culture across the Gulf of Mexico (GoM) in line with other areas in the world. Speaking at the OTC conference on Tuesday 2nd May during a technical session on approaches to improving health, safety, and environment performance, the industry body highlighted the need for its International Offshore Emergency Response (ER) Framework to be implemented in the region to ensure personnel are equipped to react in the same way when life threatening situations occur.

Offshore Technical Compliance acquires Northwest Technical Solutions

Offshore Technical Compliance (OTC), the industry leader in compliance related services, has acquired Northwest Technical Solutions (NWTS) as a wholly-owned subsidiary, extending the efficiency and reach of its offshore services. The acquisition of NWTS, which will be renamed as OTC Solutions, adds third party verification of compliance for well control equipment by a registered professional engineering firm to OTC’s portfolio, enabling its customers to access the full spectrum of compliance related services under the OTC brand. OTC now operates out of offices in Houston and Covington, LA.
