World’s First Hydrogen-Producing Offshore Wind Turbine Gets £9.3million Funding Boost

20.05.2022
Vattenfall has been awarded £9.3m in innovation funding from the ‘Net Zero Innovation Portfolio Low Carbon Hydrogen Supply 2’ fund by the UK’s Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. The funding will be used to develop the world’s first hydrogen-producing offshore wind turbine, with the electrolyser sited directly onto an existing operational turbine.

Neptune Energy & RWE to Accelerate Green Hydrogen Production in Dutch North Sea

15.02.2022
Neptune Energy and RWE today announced the signing of a Joint Development Agreement to develop the offshore green hydrogen project "H2opZee" ahead of 2030. H2opZee is a demonstration project which aims to build 300-500 megawatts (MW) electrolyser capacity in the North Sea to produce green hydrogen using offshore wind. The hydrogen will then be transported to land through an existing pipeline.

World’s First Offshore Hydrogen Storage Concept Developed by Tractebel and Partners

17.12.2021
Tractebel and partner companies have developed the world's first offshore infrastructure and processing facilities concept for the storage of hydrogen in offshore caverns. The design study, unveiled by Tractebel Overdick GmbH’s offshore experts, outlines an innovative solution for large-scale hydrogen storage on the high seas: a scalable offshore platform for the compression and storage of up to 1.2 million m³ of hydrogen. Underground salt caverns will be used as storage and buffer for the hydrogen produced offshore, before the gas is transported via the pipeline network to the onshore grid and finally to consumers and customers.

SEA-KIT Wins Funding to Demonstrate Zero Emission Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology for USVs
