HII (NYSE: HII) announced the order from Hitachi, Ltd. (Hitachi) for more than a dozen REMUS 300 small uncrewed undersea vehicles (SUUVs) under a program that will deliver the vehicles over multi-years. HII’s REMUS 300 platform is a modular, open-architecture SUUV engineered for multi-mission adaptability and was the commercial basis for the U.S. Navy’s Lionfish program.

HII announced the delivery of first two Lionfish small uncrewed undersea vehicles (SUUVs) to the U.S. Navy under a program that could scale to 200 vehicles, with a contract value exceeding $347 million. Lionfish is based on HII’s REMUS 300 platform, a modular, open-architecture SUUV engineered for multi-mission adaptability and the program was developed in collaboration with the U.S. Navy and Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), to accelerate the adoption of dual-use commercial technologies into U.S. Department of Defense programs.

Uncrewed Systems, a business unit of HII’s Mission Technologies, participated in the U.S. Navy UUV Confidence Course in Bangor, Washington, with their next generation medium-class unmanned underwater vehicle (MUUV); the REMUS 620. After shipping the vehicle from the factory in Pocasset, Massachusetts, to Keyport, Washington, the vehicle successfully underwent the full range of pre-mission checks and ballasting.
