The National Subsea Centre (NSC), a centre of excellence for subsea research and technology development, today announced it has been awarded a grant to develop a subsea decommissioning optimisation software demonstrator with PlanSea, which offers world-leading marine logistics artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Subsea7 today announced the award to Seaway7, part of the Subsea7 Group, of a substantial1 contract by ScottishPower Renewables for the transport and installation of the inter-array cables of the East Anglia TWO offshore wind project. ScottishPower Renewables £4 billion East Anglia TWO offshore windfarm will be located around 33 kilometres from the east coast of England in the Southern North Sea. Successful in the UK Government’s Contracts for Difference (CfD) Allocation Round in September 2024, it will contribute up to 960 MW of clean, green energy – enough to power the equivalent of almost one million homes.

Fugro has been chosen by Ørsted A/S to undertake a 12-month floating lidar measurement campaign for their Gippsland offshore wind farms, off south coast Gippsland, Victoria. Fugro’s advanced SEAWATCH® Wind Lidar Buoy will measure wind, wave, current and meteorological parameters to help assess the viability of Ørsted’s wind farms located off Gippsland, Victoria.

The contract, which has options for two one-year extensions, is for the provision of two subsea construction vessels, C-Constructor and MV Holiday, and access to a vast fleet of specialized subsea and supply vessels. It also includes project management, engineering, equipment, logistics, and port services. The C-Constructor and Holiday are both light construction vessels equipped with 150 MT subsea cranes and two Schilling UHD work class ROVs each.

Subsea7 announced today the award of a sizeable 1 contract for a subsea tieback development in the US Gulf of Mexico. Subsea7 will be responsible for transporting and installing the flowline, umbilical, and associated subsea components for the tieback. Project management and engineering work will begin immediately at Subsea7’s office in Houston, Texas, and offshore activity is expected to start in 2025.

General Dynamics Mission Systems announced today that it was awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee modification to a previously awarded contract by the U.S. Navy worth $20.7 million to exercise an option for Hammerhead Encapsulated Effector systems. Hammerhead is a moored anti-submarine mine which delivers new capabilities and effects to the U.S. Navy. Work will be performed in Taunton, Mass., and is expected to be completed by June 2026.

Greensea IQ, is proud to announce an extension to its prototype (Other Transaction Agreement) with the Defense Innovation Unit and U.S. Navy following the successful completion to Phase 3 of the Autonomous Expeditionary Maritime Response Vehicle (AEMRV) prototype last fall. Rovco, a leader in tech-driven offshore wind solutions, was chosen by Iberdrola to clear unexploded ordnance (UXO) at its Baltic Sea site. This marked Rovco’s first UXO project in Germany. Rovco commenced identification and removal in Q2 2024, paving the way for the construction of Iberdrola’s Windanker offshore wind farm near Rügen Island in the German EEZ.
