Base Materials to Supply Buoyancy Solutions to DNV Certified Full Ocean Depth Submersible

04.03.2025
Base Materials will supply its buoyancy solutions to Inkfish, an organisation that supports marine research, as part of wider upgrade of their full ocean depth submersible, DSV Bakunawa. The DSV Bakunawa (formerly ‘DSV Limiting Factor’), a two-man, 12-tonne vessel, was previously used for The Five Deeps Expedition, the first successful manned descent to the deepest point of each of the world’s five oceans. One of only a handful of manned submersibles capable of reaching the Challenger Deep, the deepest point of the seabed, approx. 10,925 m (35,843 ft) below sea level.

Base Materials Announces Long-term Technical Partnership with Cutting-edge Submersible Manufacturer Triton Submarines LLC

18.02.2025
Base Materials has announced a strategic collaboration with Triton Submarines LLC to support the upgrade of the Triton 7500/3, the world’s deepest diving three-person acrylic submersible. The innovative DNV certified vessel, with a fully transparent acrylic pressure hull, can dive to depths of 2,286 meters (7,500 feet) for durations exceeding 10 hours, offering explorers, scientists, and filmmakers unprecedented access to the ocean’s bathypelagic zone, a realm of the ocean that lies between 1,000 and 4,000 meters (3,280 to 13,123 feet) below the surface.
