New Session at Offshore Europe to focus on extending life of fields

23.08.2019

Subsea UK will host a session at this year’s Offshore Europe looking at how underwater operations can extend the life of fields and maximise economic recovery from the UKCS.

Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK, will chair the session which takes place from 10am to 12noon in the Late Life and Decommission Zone Theatre on Friday, 6 September at Offshore Europe. The session will centre on the innovative technology and strategies being developed to manage the late life of subsea systems.

Industry experts will discuss the latest innovations in remote operations and interventions, and smart subsea technology. Speakers at the session will be, Paul Slorach of EC-OG; Julian Richards of 3D at Depth; Moya Cahill of PanGeo Subsea; Romain Chambault of Baker Hughes GE; Dave Millward of STATS Group; Donald Horsfall of Expro and Jeremy Edwards of Viper Innovations.

Neil Gordon, chief executive of Subsea UK, said: “Decommissioning is the final stage in the life of any offshore production project, and before this takes place it is vital, for companies and the longevity of the UKCS, that the full potential is realised from the field.

“A key part of this is the management of subsea systems in late life, and recent years has seen the emergence of new technology which has the potential to extend the life of fields and maximise reserves from pools which were previously uneconomical.

“Due to the maturity of North Sea, the UKCS is leading the way globally in life extension and our session at Offshore Europe presents an opportunity to hear from the companies at the forefront of developing innovative technology and operations which have the capacity to extend the life of fields and maximise economic recovery.”

Simon Marshall, exhibition director for SPE Offshore Europe, said: “Subsea UK’s session is an excellent addition to our Life Extension and Decom Zone Theatre which has been expanded this year to include late life management. This high level of discussion into how companies can maximise economic recovery is precisely what we were looking to encourage with the growth of this section of the programme.”

Subsea UK will be at Offshore Europe with its subsea pavilion at Stand 1J50. The stand will feature member companies including; 3D at Depth, Ashford Instrumentation, Malin Marine Consultants, JB Valves, Rotech Subsea, Nippon Gases Offshore and Dockstr.
