Requirements & Summary

This is an operational role and the successful candidate will be required on occasion to work away from home during field operations and out of hours whilst piloting (appropriate overtime payments will be provided). It may also require some seagoing time on Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and other ships.
About you
The successful candidate will be a practical engineer who is willing to undertake most aspects of autonomous underwater and surface vessel operations including piloting, maintenance, troubleshooting, and fieldwork.
You should have experience working with at least one of the platforms which the NOC operate.
The ideal candidate will use their skills to complement the team’s experience to integrate new sensors and enable new glider behaviours.

Location
This position will be based in Southampton. The centre is well connected by public transport and has ample cycle parking in addition to free onsite car-parking with over 40 EV charging points.
