Inauguration of permanent Saipem exhibition dedicated to marine technologies in the Science Centre Immaginario Scientifico

A permanent exhibition in a 75 sqm space dedicated to Saipem’s marine technologies was inaugurated as part of the grand opening of the new Trieste headquarters of the Science Centre Immaginario Scientifico. Inside the exhibition, through the experimental teaching promoted by the Science Centre, young visitors will be able to discover in an interactive and engaging way how it is possible to produce energy from such an extreme and challenging environment as the sea.

In a space which calls to mind a marine environment, Saipem is displaying one of its first subsea robots (ROV) as well as four exhibit stations. The first two demonstrate Archimedes’ principle. The others feature a control room simulator for remote-controlled subsea drones and Hexafloat, a floating foundation for wind turbines developed by Saipem for offshore wind farms.

The new headquarters of the Science Centre Immaginario Scientifico is housed in an historical building of 3,000 sqm in the Old Port of Trieste, an area which Saipem selected in 2010 to develop, test and host some of its marine technologies. As such, the opportunity to set up a space dedicated to Saipem in the new Science Centre was immediately met with enthusiasm as a natural continuation of our previously established relationship with the local territory of Friuli Venezia Giulia, a very dynamic link that has allowed Saipem to create many of the innovations for which it is now renowned and acclaimed the world over.
