Forssea Completes FLOATGEN Floating Wind Turbine Subsea Survey

22.07.2021
Last June 2021, Forssea completed the underwater survey of FLOATGEN, a floating wind turbine anchored 12nm offshore from Le Croisic coast, in Pays de la Loire, France, on the SEM-REV sea test site operated by the École Centrale de Nantes (ECN).

For this operation, Forssea developed a dedicated survey skid for the Argos ROV and established a partnership with Sulmara Subsea, an international survey services contractor who was responsible for supplying the survey and positioning services during the Argos ROV operation.

The main goal of this underwater survey was to visually confirm the integrity of the mooring lines and dynamic umbilical system, besides characterizing marine growth on the various components: top chains, in-line and suspended clump weights, chain to nylon rope connections, nylon buoys, spring buoys, bottom chains, and anchors.

Forssea will start to deploy its smart ROV offering for offshore wind farms in the coming months. ARGOS ROV autonomous survey capabilities were validated last year. Forssea is now actively developing its digital platform for offshore wind farm mission management and visual inspection. New announcements will be made soon!
