This is an exciting opportunity to join as a core member of the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Operations team. The role involves supporting the Autosub AUVs both ashore and traveling to operate the equipment at sea. Working with end science users from institutions all over the UK and abroad the successful candidate will be part of the team that provides a tailored marine data collection service, integrating new and innovative scientific payloads, and exploring some of the least accessible corners of the ocean.

Requirements & Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join as a core member of the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Operations team. The role involves supporting the Autosub AUVs both ashore and traveling to operate the equipment at sea.

Working with end science users from institutions all over the UK and abroad the successful candidate will be part of the team that provides a tailored marine data collection service, integrating new and innovative scientific payloads, and exploring some of the least accessible corners of the ocean.

We are looking for a systems/electronics engineer, with a good problem-solving skills and a keen sense of adventure.

The Ideal Candidate Should

Have a degree in Engineering scientific discipline.
Have experience in troubleshooting and repairing electronic systems.
Have experience of working in the marine environment, or with mobile robotics in field applications.
Be willing to travel and work at sea or away from home for up to 90 days per year.

Location

This position will be based in Southampton. The centre is well connected by public transport and has ample cycle parking in addition to free onsite car-parking.

The NOC has a hybrid working approach where for most positions staff can work from home up to 2 days per week. If you are interested in this position, but require a more flexible working arrangement, please contact the recruitment team using the contact details below.
